Who can participate?

All high school students have an opportunity to enroll in these programs if they so choose. Students are encouraged to identify a career pathway of interest as early as possible to maximize the career pathway experience. Once the student decides on a pathway, their guidance counselor can help them build career-related classes around their academic courses.

CTE classes are offered at Duarte High School and Mt. Olive Innovation & Technology High School. Students are welcome to take CTE classes at either campus for an identified career path. Due to class scheduling limitations, some classes may not be feasible to schedule. The limitations will vary for each student depending on their graduation requirements and/or their individual learning plan.

Whom can I talk to about it?

There are several points of contact at each school. The first point of contact are the academic guidance counselors. The academic guidance counselors can add various CTE courses to the student's class schedule or refer the student to the CTE guidance counselor for additional work experience classes.

The second point of contact is the CTE guidance counselor. The CTE counselor can provide information about the CTE program and explain how various CTE classes connect to the pathways. In addition, the CTE counselor can provide career counseling and/or administer a career assessment to survey the student's career interest(s).

Both points of contact can provide information about the CTE program as well as college preparation, financial aid/ and scholarship information.
